Most opportunities will start out pro-bono, but some have the capability of becoming paid if/when that portion of the project becomes self-sustaining. Virtually every position can be custom designed to your specifications. You may be able to work from your home or in the office - hours will be determined by YOU!  For more information, call 480 990-1450 or e-mail Cindy Cooke

ASSOCIATION FOR SUPPORTIVE CHILD CARE

Want to work with kids? Phone Friend is a free program of the Association for Supportive Child Care offering trained staff and volunteers to simply be there by phone to talk to children about just about anything. MORE

Training for staff and volunteers is an eight-part process that lasts 7 - 10 hours. This includes orientation, observation, guided practice, reading material with discussion, role-playing scenarios and a period of shadowing/mentoring with an experienced staff member resulting in employees and volunteers who provide responsive, caring interaction.

Some people think that only children who have a problem can call Phone Friend. Not true! Phone Friend can help with personal or homework problems, but we are also available to any child who would like to just talk, play a game, or hear a story. Phone Friend is open before and after school during the regular school year to any child under the age of 18.

Staff and volunteers are selected based on the amount of time they have worked with school-age children and the amount of formal education they have in the area of child development, family studies, psychology, education or a related field.

For more information, give us a call at 480 829-0500, extension 105, or visit www.asccaz.org/1_phone.html

FUTURE FOR KIDS

Future for KIDS provides the opportunity to strengthen and enhance academic, social and athletic skills through guided mentorship. We develop our mentorship activities based on the individual needs of each of our locations.   We recruit, select, match, prepare and train mentors to meet the specific needs of each location and sports programs. Mentorship is about building a joint venture, which embraces the self-worth of all participants. We serve the East Valley at the Lehi & Red Mountain Boys and Girls clubs on the Salt River Pima Indian Reservation, the south valley at the Salvation Army South Mountain located at 13th St. and Broadway, and the west valley at Westwood Primary School located at 23rd Ave. and Camelback.  If you are willing to make a difference in the life of a child, please contact us at: 480-945-3707.
