Re-careering

Our re-careering programs provide a number of options to assist boomers who are looking for flexible employment opportunities on a volunteer basis or paid.  These unique programs all provide valuable tools to assist you in your job search whether you want to change careers, change jobs, work part-time, find flexible employment, work on projects, or return full-time to the work force. 

  • Talent Bank: Open only to members and to companies that are "Boomer-Friendly," this resource is designed not only for boomers who are looking for traditional positions, but also for those who are changing careers or interested in flexible work alternatives. Most importantly we are looking for boomers that can use their expertise, skills and contacts to help a small business, start up or non-profit.   • Career Programs:  Programs that provide Boomerz members with information and guidance on preparing for job interviews, re-careering advice, etc.
  • Employer Showcases: Geared specifically towards companies that are actively looking for boomers to fill their open positions. Host companies invite Boomerz members to presentations providing information about their company history, culture, job opportunities and benefits and interview Boomerz for available positions.
  • Adult Internships: Companies needing help can apply to host an Adult Intern. This program ties together baby boomerz who desire a new job and need the experience for knowledge and resumes. Our program lays out guidelines and objectives for the 13 week program. No cost to the employer, but they must meet qualifications. (see below for details)

 Adult Internship Guidelines and Qualifications

    Employers:

  • Must be a non-profit or small business with not more than 100 employees
  • Must have a written and pre-approved job profile utilizing the employee
  • Must agree to a 13 week program, at least 20 hours per week
  • Must agree to offer training and education to your specific industry
  • Must agree to a bi-weekly review of employee
  • Must be willing to act as a reference, if employee leaves in good standing
  • Will be responsible for background/criminal checks of any person working with money prior to start
  • Will agree to reimburse employee for any required out of pocket expenses

    Workers:

  • Must be able to work a minimum of 20 hours a week for 13 consecutive weeks
  • Understands that this is a non-paid project in return for training
  • Must agree to uphold standards of conduct provided by Boomerz
