Begun with a generous grant from The Virginia B. Piper Charitable Trust, Boomerz mission is to fully engage the talents, energy and experience of boomers to address today’s economic, social, and political concerns. Boomerz believes that boomers can be an ever increasing asset to society rather than a liability, and is committed to making this concept a reality.  

Boomers have a lot to give, but they want to give it in their own way.  they want meaningful opportunities - whether it is volunteering or a second career - on their own terms.  Our outreach programs are designed to get these bright minds focused on positive change in the community - be it local, national, or international.  We empower boomers to think differently and more creatively than previous generations about mid-life options and provide a catalyst for action.

Board of Directors

In early 2008, Boomerz became a 501c3, non-profit organization.  In accordance with the new requirements, Boomerz is in the midst of restructuring its former "advisory board" into a formal Board of Directors with different functions and qualifications. Programs

The programs offered by Boomerz fall into the following major categories:

Finding Your Passion and Purpose - a speaker series exploring a wide variety of experiences from the Peace Corps to panel discussions with boomers who have changed career fields. 

Vital Issues - a program that features knowledgeable and generally well-known experts discussing the hot topics in the world today - from war to the environment, from the media to third parties.  MORE

Social Networking - offers informal, fun, social events such as mixers and behind-the-scenes events for Boomerz to connect and make new friendships.

Re-careering - Establishes employment connections for boomers who are looking for flexible work opportunities through Talent Acquisition Coffees, a computerized Talent Bank, "Boot" Camps, Job Fairs, etc.   MORE

Social Entrepreneurs Center - a program to explore and create sustaining businesses that meet social needs or provide revenue streams for existing non-profits.

Volunteering - provides flexible, meaningful opportunities within the Boomerz organization or with other local non-profits that can benefit from boomer talent and experience.  MORE
